The smaller 330 Sport kayak has a hull made with the thinner 33 mil K80 PVC while the larger 370 Sport is made with 38 mil K-80 PVC.

Drop-Stitch Technology
High-pressure drop-stitch construction is the top-of-the-line construction technique for inflatable kayaks, SUPs, and other inflatable boats.
The high-pressure, drop-stitch material is made by joining a top and bottom layer of fabric with tens of thousands of polyester threads that form I-beam supports to hold the two layers of fabric together.

Sea Eagle kayaks have skegs to improve tracking and speed. These skegs are removable in all but the Sport models. Aquaglide kayaks lack skegs in many of their models.
Durability: Many Aquaglide kayaks use 1000 Denier fabric-reinforced PVC comparable to Sea Eagle kayak construction but also have models with a HexShell bladder cover material made of 600 Denier hexagonal ripstop polyester fabric. These models with bladder covers are cheaper, heavier, less rigid, and less durable.

Sea Eagle and Advanced Elements are both very popular kayaks, though Advanced Elements builds hybrid boats that incorporate aluminum frames to support the inflatable chambers of its kayaks.
Performance: The incorporation of aluminum frames and drop-stitch floors provide Advanced Elements kayaks with a refined shape and performance more like a hard shell kayak. While not as heavy as a hard shell, the aluminum frame makes them heavier than a comparable Sea Eagle kayak.
Durability: When it comes to durability, both Sea Eagle and Advanced Elements have solid reputations for making quality products that last, though Sea Eagle uses heavy-duty, fabric-reinforced PVC material that has superior durability to the lightweight, polyester upper deck cover and PVC tarpaulin hull material used in Advanced Elements kayaks.

If you’re looking for a long-term investment then spending a bit more upfront on a Sea Eagle may be worth it. They will last longer and require less maintenance over time compared to a cheaper alternative from Intex.
Sea Eagle vs AIRE
Sea Eagle and AIRE are two highly popular brands with a variety of inflatable kayaks. They both produce some of the best inflatable kayaks on the market.
When I mention AIRE, I’m including AIRE Tributary as well.
AIRE is made in the US and has a 10-year warranty. The best out of any kayak manufacturer I’ve found.
AIRE Tributary are Chinese-made kayaks with only a 1-year warranty. Sea Eagle has a 3-year warranty with an optional 3-year extended warranty.
Both Sea Eagle and AIRE offer a wide range of models, from recreational to whitewater, that can suit any paddler’s needs. AIRE kayaks are made primarily for whitewater rapids, which makes sense. AIRE has been making whitewater boats since 1989.
Although AIRE is focused on whitewater, models like the Super Lynx are great crossover boats that track well with the removable skeg installed.
The biggest difference between the two manufacturers is Sea Eagle’s use of drop-stitch floors. This feature makes their boats as rigid as a hard-shell kayak.
Performance: Both companies make great performing kayaks with plenty of speed for recreational paddling or navigating rapids if desired.
Overall performance varies depending on the model chosen from either manufacturer since different designs cater to specific activities like touring versus whitewater.

STAR inflatables have recreational and whitewater kayaks with drop-stitch technology that are comparable to Sea Eagle in quality, durability, performance, and price.
STAR doesn’t have a kayak made completely of drop-stitch construction like the Sea Eagle RazorLite. They also lack a designated fishing kayak in their lineup but NRS owns STAR and they have two fishing kayaks that I’ll cover next.

NRS is a noteworthy brand that manufactures high-quality inflatable kayaks under its name as well as STAR Inflatables which it acquired in 2017.
Currently, NRS markets only two inflatable kayaks, the Kubda and Pike, under its name. Both are fishing kayaks that compare to the Sea Eagle 350fx Fishing Explorer and the 385fta FastTrack Angler.
Performance: Both Sea Eagle and NRS fishing kayak offer performance-enhanced designs with removable tracking fins. There are some superior features to the Sea Eagle kayaks that set them apart:
- The Sea Eagle 350fx Fishing Explorer has an enhanced feature for those that might be doing both wet and dry paddling, rapid self-bailing drain valves that easily open and close as needed.
